The only way we can move our lives forward is to Wake up. Waking up is just another term for becoming aware of what we need to do to bring enjoyment and fulfillment to our lives. Everyone has 24 hours in a day. However, the successful and fulfilled people make the most out of the time that they have.

How can you make the most out of your day? Create an Enjoyment List! Not a To Do List…Not a Must Get Done List, but start an Enjoyment List. These are things you will specifically work toward enjoying throughout the day.

To start enjoying our lives, we have to find something to commit to. This is where your purpose comes in. Self-Help Guru’s agree that an attainment of a purpose or a goal is the one thing that separates the haves from the have-nots. Making a decision about your purpose is the one thing that will propel you into a new and improved life and lifestyle.

Once you have your purpose documented, it’s time to break the purpose down into attainable steps. These steps are called activities. But the key to enjoyment is to commit to doing the activity before it’s time to actually perform the activity. This is critical because the level of commitment to obtain a purpose holds people back every day.  The only reason for lack of commitment is because people wait way too long to commit to the activity. We don’t have to start the activity in order to be committed to it. So, here’s your alternative. Upon rising every morning, make a declaration that you are committed to do what you have to do to achieve your purpose. This is called mental motivation!

The last step is to build upon whatever happens. You know the good thing about mistakes? They are not permanent, and we learn from them! Whatever happens throughout your day- before you go to bed, make a mental note of what went wrong and what you could have done better. Soon, you will find motivation where there once was laziness, and success where there once was failure.
So, to recap:

1. Start an Enjoyment List.
2. Attain a purpose or goal each and every day.
3. Commit to activities before it’s time to perform the activity.
4. Build upon whatever happens.

Inspired Point of Power: To wake up, you have to show up.

  1. Hello Dwayne, great post!! Of all the lists I’ve heard of through the years, an enjoyment list is a first and absolutely brilliant idea!! We are so caught up in the busyness of our days, no wonder it’s difficult to live in the moment. I’m going to have to give this a try. Thx ~Steph

    1. Thanks for stopping by Steph! Yes, the Enjoyment List keeps you focused on enjoyment and not the mundane. Please write back and let me know how it works for you!

      1. I certainly will. I also heard something else just today to help keep motivation going during the down times and that is a smile file containing positive comments that can be reviewed to remind us that we are valued.
