Hello Inspiration Nation! I have a few questions for you, today…and I would like for you to really think about them. What comes after so-called success? Have you ever thought about this? When you finally get what you want, what else is there? Do you expect to live “Happily-Ever-After” like a popular children’s fairy tale? Do you expect your life to fade to black as the words “The End” appears?

We all know that reality just does not work like this! Success is a very critical aspect to life, but it’s not the be-all end-all to us as persons. Success Blogs and other websites dominate the internet. Countless audio CD’s and books about success are a massive part of market giants like Barnes and Noble or Amazon. People have amassed fortunes selling success and view successful people as better than others. You can’t turn on your 50 inch High Definition television without seeing a commercial telling you that you can have it all (i.e. be successful). It’s no wonder that our society is obsessed with success.

The fact of the matter is that we are all human beings and are a composition of Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Mental elements to our person. Simply being successful in life does not guarantee that you will be a stronger person in these areas of life where and when it really counts. After you reach your success level, you will still need the Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Mental strength to maintain and support your obtained success.

Sure, there are milestones you will gain as you execute in life. I mean, who hasn’t heard of at least one of the success stories where someone started out with nothing, but against all odds amassed a huge fortune or became famous based on his or her talent. Similarly, you could earn your college degree. You could land a well-paying job (which is the basis of societal success). You could get married. You could even get divorced! Depending on your perspective, all of the aforementioned accomplishments could be viewed as a level of success. And once you’ve achieved all these things, you’re supposed to be happy, right?

Without question, some of the most successful people on this earth deal with invisible demons everyday, despite their level of success. People make millions upon millions of dollars in the Entertainment Industry, Professional Sports, and Music Industry only to have it all snatched away by the cold hand of life because they themselves fell way short of the Spiritual, Emotional, Physical and Mental maturity to handle it.

Turn on the news…seems like everyday there is another death, divorce, drug addiction, or prison term that is endured by another “successful” person. This should certainly give us a clue that just because you are successful, doesn’t mean you have joy. There are thousands of successful people that hate everyday that they have to go to work or some other aspect of their life. Or they may deal with depression on a periodic basis. But yet, by society’s standards…they are successful. And don’t get me wrong…Success certainly brings about Admiration…but Admiration is not a substitute for Love. I believe God created each of us with tremendous talent that we could use for success…but following the success highway without him driving along with us and strengthening us leads absolutely nowhere.

In all our success “getting” we need to remember that life is about purpose, and purpose is only from God. We need to also be thankful for the blessings we have received as gifts…not just because of hard work. Think about this…everything you will ever receive on this earth will be given to you by someone else. Likewise, your life was also given to you. So, before you embark on your success journey have faith in God to develop you mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually in life. If you don’t have these pillars in place, you will no doubt crumble under the weight of your own success.

Remember, even though you reach your success destination; you will still need God to live Joyously-Ever-After…The End.

-Be Inspired and Live You!
