When you are driving to where you want to go in life, one thing remains critical to your success. It’s immensely important for you to realize and believe that you are always in control – no matter the situation. A lot of times when we get started on our journeys in life, we are full of zeal and want to really accomplish something worthwhile. But along our journey, things begin to happen to us.
As things happen, we get sidetracked, and instead of being the strong individual we were created to be, we end up taking on two of the most destructive mentalities known to man. They are the victim mentality and the lottery mentality.
The victim mentality is when something happens in your life, you immediately look at it as something that is happening to you. You are powerless to stop it, you are helpless to prevent it, and you are emotionless after it is done with you. Chances are that you know someone who has this mentality, and put it on display everyday…and every time you talk to them, it’s another incident…it never ends.
The other type of mentality that holds so many people back is what I like to call the lottery mentality. What is the lottery mentality? The lottery mentality is when you believe it is common practice that you can pay one dollar and win a million. But in another sense, it’s saying that you take one step toward your goal, and you expect all your dreams to come true.
If you follow this blog then you know as a Coach, I empower people to not only take one step, by constant steps toward their goals. I continue to work with people until their steps are so powerful, so focused, that they have morphed from small steps into a full-fledge march! An unstoppable march towards their goals and towards the life they want.
If you don’t take anything away from this post, please take this…anything in your life worth having, is worth working for. Anything worth working for, is worth dying for, and anything worth dying for is worth living for. So live for something…be alive, be focused, and experience the life you were meant to live…and that’s the only mentality you need.
