We’ve all heard the phrase, “she is in the zone”, or “he is zoned out”, and more than likely, we all know what these two phrases mean.
In the zone, means that the person can do no wrong – they are in a mental zone. They are intensely connected to the situation and challenge they are involved in. Conversely, zoning out means that the person has had enough and no longer has any mental connections with the subject matter whatsoever.
Successful people use both of these mental states to help them succeed. For us to succeed, we just simply need to apply these two power states to the right areas of our lives.
The Positive Zone
First, we have to look at what exactly gets us into our personal zone? Passion, Pride and Purpose plays major roles in getting a person into the zone. These are three key ingredients that allow you to just “feel it” when you are taking care of your successful business.
When you find something that you are passionate about, you will find purpose in doing, and take pride in it. This will eventually put you in the zone. No level of challenge will have any negative effect on you, because when you are in the zone. Challenges simply exist to increase your abilities and not to stop you.
The Negative Zone
Now, let’s talk about zoning out. When you zone out, nothing affects you. Even though something may have plagued you for a while, for that zone out time, it does not affect you.
So, what would you zone out too? Well, if you are going to zone out to anything…zone out to the negative circumstances and situations in your life. That’s right. We can control what we zone out to. And when we are on the path to success, we must zone out to self-defeating thoughts and actions that keep us from success.
Control the Zones
The only way to be successful is to control the things in our lives that we can control. Sure, we can’t control everything, but we can control some things. It is the successful people that accept and take responsibility for their lives. We all have the power to put ourselves in the zone and to zone out. If you want to be successful, we have to use our personal power.
Inspired Point of Power: We were never meant to control everything or anything…only ourselves.
