We must admit – there are a lot of things in this world that we just don’t know. I mean, that is really the reason as to why GOOGLE is so popular. In a matter of microseconds, GOOGLE enables us to find out answers to inquires that were once very distant thoughts. By cross referencing different articles and authors, we get a look at the Big Picture of information. Couple that with the fact that we have a tendency to believe what we read, and BAM…we have research! And research is the key that unlocks the Doors of Success!

It’s amazing – the things we don’t know. However, most of these things are justifiable. They consist of external aspects of life and the majority of people in our lives. These are the things that we consistently don’t know…and rightfully so. You have to spend a lot of time with people to get to know them. Likewise, you have to spend a lot of time researching things in order to become knowledgeable about them, but if there is one person that you should be willing to invest the most effort and time to get to know, it’s yourself!

So many people suffer from anxiety, stress, peer pressure and the host of other outside destructive influences. Our identity has an overwhelming tendency to be wrapped up in a variety of things. But what do you really know about yourself? Who are you? Really…who are you? If there is one question on this earth that we should be able to answer, it should be this basic three word question. However, amazingly it does not have the simple answer you may think it has. A good reason for this is because…before we can discover who we are inside, we often have to remove layers and layers of dirt that we may have been buried under from previous disappointments, relationships, and mistakes.

Getting to know yourself takes time. It takes effort. It takes a person willing to stand in front of the mirror and look themselves directly in the eyes and admit to themselves what is truth in their mind, soul and heart. To be honest! To be open! To be real! Sometimes, it is the most difficult thing you will ever do in your life. It’s not always easy, but the benefits are tremendous. It is the starting point to a healthier, more productive and fulfilling life – your life.

There are a host of tools out there that will allow you to get to know yourself better. Personality Profiles like Myers Briggs and DISC reveal tons of information and are great starting points, but they don’t stop there. If you really want to embark on the “Yourney” (not Journey)…you have to add two powerful tools to your repertoire and they are…meditation and reflection. This will enable you to put perspective on experiences that are both good and bad. Often times, the bad experiences teach us the most, if we are willing to listen to the greatest teacher: life. Lastly, never-ever neglect the power of a good book. Books are the tools of choice for learning and development. Think of it this way, anything you will ever learn on this earth has been or will be recorded in a book somewhere.

No one can tell you the right amount of time or effort you will require to discover yourself. But you know what, after its all set and done you should definitely know a few things…case and point. You should know that you deserve better. You should know that you can change for the better. You should know your strengths. You should know your weaknesses. You should know your natural environment that you thrive in. You should know your dreams. You should know your passions. You should know that only you can keep your dreams alive. You should know that they will come true if you keep believing and working. Knowing who you are connects you to the future that is destined to be yours. So, after you know all this…Go for it!

Remember, the only thing that you owe the world is yourself!
